Just how many asbestos sufferers still don’t know about it?

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Asbestos used to be such a popular fire retardant product that it’s going to pop out of the woodwork for many decades to come which is a problem as it can be rather a hazardous product to say the least.

So, for example asbestos mesothelioma will be a horrible disease that could have been an unknown one if we’d known about the risks of asbestos much earlier. Sadly, all that asbestos that’s around means that people are likely to continue to suffer from it for many years to come.

Of course, the problem is that we really don’t know about all the risks of any product or substance ahead of the time when those risks starts to result in problems. Although the risk assessments are generally better these days than they were in the past, don’t be surprised if it turns out that some commonly used substance turns out to have some currently hidden danger that won’t become apparent for several decades to come.

The season for scrambling machines

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

With the arrival of more dependable good weather, the sound of atv machines is in the air just about everywhere you go.

It’s not so bad when properly licensed vehicles and drivers drive their vehicles on the roads but given the size of these vehicles it’s quite common to see unlicensed vehicles on the road too and some incredibly iffy driving I’ve seen indicates that the drivers aren’t licensed either.

However, even though a license isn’t required for off-road use, quite often these vehicles are seen racing over tracks that normal pedestrians are travelling along too. I’m sure that in many cases that’s an accident just waiting to happen given the lack of care that many of the drivers take.

And, of course, there’s the noise!

What’s the next game console to consider?

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Our little guys seem to be nearing the end of the road with their PSPs so we’ve started thinking about what they might like after that.

The obvious choice would be the ps3 which would even extend the functionality of their existing PSPs. I think it’s even possible to sort-of swap games between the two systems and certainly multiuser gaming is possible between the two systems.

Sadly, it’s not so simple as that though. Whilst the PS3 is probably the most logical choice for compatibility, there’s also the marketing muscle of the Wii and the Xbox to consider. Plus, Wendy’s quite taken with the Wii.

One thing’s for sure: moving from a portable console to one that needs a TV is gonna mean we need another TV.
