Are you a Canon, Nikon or Fuji owner?

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

We’ve all three makes in our household and you’d think that it would be easy enough to switch between them, at least at the level of a compact camera but it isn’t.

Whilst I don’t have any problems changing between the Canon camera and the Nikons, when I try to take a photo on the Fujis it just never seems to turn out quite as I was expecting it to. Oh, the menus are different for sure but the cameras are basically set up for point and shoot so you’d think that would work quite well. Still, at least it makes Wendy’s camera hers and mine, mine :)

It’s summer so it’s BBQ time

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

You know that it’s Spring when the shelves of the supermarket start to groan under the weight of all kinds of outdoor cooking equipment so it’s almost time for the sales of such things to begin.

Most people opt for BBQ style gear with anything from simple charcoal based items through gas fired versions through to outdoor electric grills with loads of variation in between. What’s best to go for depends on the use that you’re intending to put it to. If it’s a once a year effort you’d not go far wrong with one of the disposable versions, move to weekly and it’s generally charcoal or gas but if you’re into BBQ at home then electric grills are worth considering too.

All you need to add is decent weather…

Naming clothing trends

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Clothing trends can originate just about everywhere these days with styles traceable back to anything from a pop star to a dance style.

That can lead to an annoyingly confusing range of names for styles that can differ quite markedly from what the origins where for any given style. Thus hip hop clothes become urban clothes and acquire a slightly different range of styling. Similarly, the Lady Ga Ga inspiring clothing has moved away from simply copying her outfits and on to using her overall styles as inspiration for something quite different.

Where the next set of names will come from is anyone’s guess and even the style magazines can’t tell you although that won’t stop them trying.
