Aren’t insurance quotes a hassle?

We’re in France at the moment and if you think getting an insurance quote you should try it French style sometime.

Whereas in the rest of the world you’d generally go online and get a quote, thus totally avoiding an insurance salesman in most cases, here that ain’t an option. You simply have to go to the insurance guy because even the quote that he gets on his system isn’t a firm one.

One “plus” point is that it’s not even possible to shop around for insurance when your renewal comes up. Eh? Well, about two months before they tell you what you have to pay for the coming year, you’re legally committed to paying for it anyway whether you want the insurance or not. Seriously! Not only that, but they can even change the amount that you need to pay AFTER they’ve agreed a quote with you and you are still legally committed to the new quote.

So, when you are shopping around, spare a thought for the French!
