Some hassles with the house insurance

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

We’re in the midst of a claim for the house insurance and finding that the policy might not be quite so good as we thought it was.

One of the issues we have is that they’ve hiked the excess ten-fold. Yes, it’s ten times what it was a year earlier. Net effect of that is that we find that we’re paying quite a significant chunk of the cost of the repairs ourselves and it’s not quite settled yet either. It’s that bad that in our last chat with them I was very close to telling them to just cancel the policy.

Whilst I’ve not, yet, cancelled it, I am definitely looking into an alternative home insurance quote at the moment. This time I’ll be taking a close read of the small print for sure.

Is it worth farming out your printing?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

These days we’ve all got printers that can do the job a professional printing outfit could do at the quality that you’d expect but it’s not always the case that you should do your own printing.

For example, if you want to print good quality business cards then online printing can be the best way to go. Yes, you could go out and buy business card paper to do the printing on but chances are that your printer isn’t up to printing on the relatively high weight paper that most business cards come on. Thus, your business card will appear a little cheap which isn’t the image that you’d want to project.

Likewise for printing photos. There isn’t that much difference in the cost of printing your own vs doing it online these days. That said, you would need to buy the proper paper and don’t forget that printing photos uses up a surprising volume of ink.

Is slimquick worth considering?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

As the range of slimming products increases so, as one would expect, products appear to fill every conceiveable niche.

One of those is SlimQuick which is aimed at women. Why? Because they’re quite likely to buy it. The ingredients and the way in which it acts doesn’t mean that it’ll only work for women as the slimquick reviews will quickly reveal to you.

It’s effectively one of those broad brush approaches to diet pills ie it contains a whole host of ingredients aiming to target everything from increasing metabolism through to eliminating water. The good point about that combo is that it will target almost every conceiveable way of getting your body to losing weight. The downside of that is that the sheer number of ingredients means that there’s a lot more potential for side-effects so you need to keep an eye on how your body is reacting to it.

Definitely worth considering if you’re looking for a “do it all” kind of pill.
