What is it about RV vacations that makes them so attractive?
Saturday, May 23rd, 2009Once you’ve been on an rv vacation once it’s hard to go back to a normal type of holiday afterwards.
For a family they can be pretty much ideal if you choose your spot well. America is littered with ideal spots ranging from the canyon country around Arizona to New England. Out west in general you’ll find the wide open roads of the RV advertisements but in the east you’ll find a very high concentration of RV parks reflecting the high concentration of attractions in the region in comparison to elsewhere.
The style of RV holiday that you choose can vary just as much as the locations. Some people choose an RV park and take daily excursions from that base which works really well in most spots on the east coast eg we spent three weeks in New England and were within 150 miles of Boston almost the whole time so, in principle, one central base camp with day trips would have worked well. Others use the RV as their travelling home, exploring a new spot every day which is probably best for the west coast generally though it’ll also work in the east if you change your base every couple of days.
I think though that the basic appeal of the RV holiday is that it’s your vacation and you can go where-ever you want, stay where-ever you want. You can plan your holiday in advance or just make it up as you go along or even just change your mind from day to day.
