Proper wooded outdoor sets for the kids

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

These days the kids seem to have untold numbers of electronic devices to keep them indoors so it’s a good idea to balance those with stuff that force them outdoors to play too.

Of these one of the most popular are wooden swing sets which are a sure-fire way of getting the kids interested in outdoor activities. These days when you start looking at outdoor play settings there’s much more on offer than simple wooden swings and you can get complete mini play complexes including rope ladders, swings, slides and little castles to mention but a few of the options.

Although the larger sets are obviously fairly expensive it’s not really necessary to go the whole way in one go and even that simple swing of yester-year will provide a lot of fun for your kids.

Just been offered all your granny’s baby bedding?

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

It’s very common to find that when you’ve a new arrival in the family that it’s accompanied by untold numbers of offers of clothing and furniture for the baby.

However, you need to ask yourself if the baby bedding that was used by your granny when she was a baby is quite as safe as it might be. Yes, it might sound cute to use that antique cot but have you considered all the little splinters of wood that your little darling could easily cut themselves on? The bedding material is much worse and you should never consider using old mattresses or pillows as 1) they’ll be sure to have soaked in untold nasties from various extretions from its previous users and 2) anything more than 5 or 10 years old won’t come close to conforming with modern fire safety standards.

‘Tis much better on the whole to buy new. Not only will you have colour co-ordination in the nursery but you’ll have a much safer environment for your baby.
