What do you do if you’ve an addition and you want out of it?

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Just about everyone tends to look down on addicts but getting out of an addition is far from easy.

Those looks of disdain really don’t help, of course, but finding encouragement in the early days of any attempt to clean up is next to impossible. Not only will it be difficult to find non-addicts to help you (even friends and family may reject you) but your fellow addicts won’t necessarily be helpful either.

What’s required is to get yourself into a supportive environment for the difficult times at the start and that’s when you need to get to a drug treatment center. These people have seen it all before and know that you can come through.

How dependent are you on your electricity?

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Almost completely is the answer for most of us these days I’m sure, but what are your plans for when it fails?

The answer to that is usually “phone the electricity company” which is fine if you live in a city and can do without power for a few hours but probably not the best idea if you live way out in the country particularly if storms are reasonably frequent and you can’t do without power for a few days. Yet, despite that many people in such situations don’t even consider what’s become a very affordable option these days: generators.

Although you can buy them in all sizes right up to ones powerful enough to run a small town, in reality few people need anything that’s really large if they are able to reorganise their life a little bit for those times when the generator is required. For example, although a house would normally require something like a 5kW generator to run everything in reality we found that a small 1kW generator was more than enough to keep essential things going for us (lights, power for the central heating pumps, TV, computers and, when pushed, even a microwave).

Don’t forget that even oil fired central heating still needs some electricity and, of course, so do cordless phones.

North Carolina rentals

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

I don’t know what it is about North Carolina but we seem to be attracting people from there like a magnet of late.

As usual, when we get guests with a website we’ve been nosying into what the place is like and it’s simply lovely. There’s heaps to do both in North Carolina itself (which is quite an historic area in America) and it’s close enough to both Florida and Virginia to make it a good choice as a centre.

Outer Banks rentals offer you the chance to rent a holiday home (or vacation rental as they call them) which is probably the best way to experience this area. Hotels are short-term places but this is an area that you need to settle into for a while to get the full benefit of it.
